Keisha Cole Covers Vibe

This is much better than the last cover they did with Kanye West; my eyes are still recovering from it. I'm kidding, it wasn't a bad cover I just didn't think that it was cover material but maybe this is something new that they are trying, with only taking head shots. Is Vibe trying their hand at Vogue? It is possible, I mean we are looking at a style issue above with Keisha Cole looking rather attractive on the cover. I was never a huge fan of Ms. Cole but every since the last album cover and the new look she is moving up on my list.

Cheap Monday A/W 09 Collection

Here we see Cheap Monday exploring a more twisted and destroyed approach to denim which is nice for a change. I was a huge fan of destroyed denim two and a half years ago when everyone was doing it, clothing lines like: True Religion, Ralph Lauren, 7 for all mankind, Citizen of humanity, paper denim, chip and pepper and then of course we had the Blues (Blue Blood, Blue Cult and Sacred Blue) all of whom were trying their hand at the destroyed denim at that time. Do I think it will make a resurgence in 2009? Yes I do. Style never fades, it hibernates. I don't think that we ever really strayed away from destroyed denim, we just took a more involved approach. Instead of buying it pre-destroyed we purchased dry denim from lines such as: Nudie Jean co., A.P.C, Naked and Famous, Levi and byCorpus and we tried our hand at denim destruction. It will definitely be interesting to see how the fashionable consumer responds to the return of destruction. Kanye West has already declared his desire to have destroyed denim on his blog, we'll just have to wait and see how that plays out.

Laughter is healthy so I encourage everyone to laugh at something everyday. I try to keep the people around me positive and laughing because life is hard enough and there are only 24 hours in a day. Way too little time to be serious for all 24 of those hours. So even if it's just for 5 minutes; laugh.

Wear The Bear on Drinking

"You like alcohol. We like alcohol. Whether it's guzzling a keg or getting downright smashed from consecutive shots or drinking a glass of Absolut clean like me, it's all about the blood rush, strobe lights, gorgeous women, and blaring music that keeps us cycling through parties every weekend. But let's be honest, beer bongs and retching in the hallway are not characteristic of gentlemen. So... " Kevin Hou

J. Crew, Sperry Top-Sider Collaboration

When you think about J. Crew, the words American Classic come to mind. Every season they put interesting twist on the collection that keep consumers coming back without straying too far away from their roots. This season they have done a collaboration with a very well documented company. When it comes to boat shoes Sperry Top-Sider is the most popular name in America. So the offspring of such a collaboration can only be great. The suede pair seen above is more of a moccasin than a boat shoe due to the fact that it is suede, it cancels out any opportunity for boating. However the broken in pair displayed below are perfect for such an event but yet are so well made that they can be worn everyday. I'm definitely a fan.

Tune In and Let Go

Married to the Mob S/S 09 Collection

This is a killer collection anyway you look at it. Previously I wasn't a huge fan of the clothing line but I think it had a lot to do with the way it was presented. The way you present your line says a lot about the designers, the owners and the company as a whole. I waved it off as something for the kids but this collection has my attention. Whoever came up with the idea to get Kid Sister to be a part of this ad campaign deserves a raise because it worked out so well that it's simply a match made in Heaven.

Apolis Activism S/S 09 Collection

I really enjoy and appreciate the way this collection is presented. The clothes are quality clothing and the style is that of a more polished and somewhat preppy man but the presentation is so refreshing that it kind of sneaks it's way into your mind and soon to be your wardrobe. Often times you see a good collection reaching to the prep side and it is just so boring and in a way mundane but this collection keeps it interesting. We see a lot of cuffed chino's here showcasing the ankle; very nice. We also get a glimpse of some very appealing shirts, a quality cardigan and there is even an L&F favorite; a bow tie.

Hats Off to You

How do you feel about the headgear recently showcased in the Chanel Couture show? Either you love it or you hate it there is no in between. Personally I find them imaginative to say the least. If you love them then you can call the House of Chanel and see what they will charge you to have one released to you or you can head over to the nearest officemax and get started on your own because the headwear is nothing more than office paper according to hairstylist Katsuya Kamo.
How inventive.

GOAL!!!!

The new Louis Vuitton monogram duffle bag that obviously drew it's inspiration from a soccer ball. A very interesting item to use as a means of inspiration seeing as the two hardly have anything in common but yet it actually works out quite nicely. The quality of the bag is assured by the name Louis Vuitton and the new look definitely is something that will have onlookers clamoring for some time. Overall I think that it is safe to say that LV scores with this one.

KL Shoots Chanel

The title might suggest a gory content but it's quite the contrary. What you can get a glimpse of is Karl Lagerfeld shooting the latest Chanel collection. What's so funny about these shots is the fact that Lagerfeld will never admit to or consider himself a photographer. I like that because it says that no matter what pedestal people put him on he still has a sense of modesty.

I know what your initial thoughts were, you say this picture and you thought to yourself "Pharrell showing off the Hermes bag again." Oh how wrong you would be, if you analyze the picture below a tad bit closer you would see that those are not the general released Sponge Bob Bapes but in fact a Crocodile skin edition and then yea the Hermes bag is Croc leather too so in a way he is showcasing his croc leather collection and his iPhone.

Christian Dior: Couture 09

Dior delivers there latest installment in the finest form of couture; ruffles. Ruffles, truffles, turn-ups and frills all adorn the beautifully constructed gowns. I have hand selected these three pieces because I fell like these are the best of the bunch. These are the standout pieces in the collection, the likely hood that they would actually be selected to be worn by someone with the funds and or star power is very low but they are delightful to look at. These dresses are reminiscent of elegant gowns that were worn during the Victorian era which just happens to be my personal favorite type of woman. Women were just different during that time period and these dresses take me back to that time. When designers create clothes they aim to do more than just fill a utilitarian purpose, they want to inspire people to do things with their lives, they want to make people feel good and when it comes to designers that create women's apparel they aim to make women feel like women; beautiful.

Words From An Icon: Prince

"James Brown played a big influence in my style. When I was about 10 years old, my stepdad put me on stage with him, and I danced a little bit until the bodyguard took me off. The reason I liked James Brown so much is that, on my way out, I saw some of the finest dancing girls I ever seen in my life. And I think, in that respect, he influenced me by his control over his group. Another big influence was Joni Mitchell. She taught me a lot about color and sound, and to her, I'm very grateful." Prince

Grace Jones for V Magazine

"I was born into a very religious family where everything was about setting the right example for the community and having to obey orders blindly. I felt that everyone was growing up in the world, except me. This is probably one of the reasons why I had such a rebellious attitude towards any form of authority. I also systematically associated authority with masculinity. With one exception: my great grandmother, who I actually saw chase and beat up my great uncle, the bishop of Jamaica. She was 98 at the time and 6 feet tall. Sure the bishop was her son, but still…" Grace Jones

Victoria Beckham for Russian Vogue

Well well well, here we are again, presented with another beautiful display by Mrs. Beckham. Is there any look that she can't pull off? Her facial structure is remarkable and her slender frame is very appealing. It isn't hard to tell why the press and magazines are all clamoring about this woman, she is very marketable. Putting her on the cover of a magazine will almost guarantee that it will sell. One example of such would be this cover. It's Russian Vogue and yet the whole of America is going wild over it. The last time I felt this good about a Russian Vogue cover was when Naomi Campbell was on the cover. In no way am I trying to say that Mrs. Beckham is coming for Ms. Campbell's spot, although Posh is doing very well in print and her face has a commanding force in marketing, she is still a long way from legendary. I must say of all the Spice girls I would have never thought that Posh would be the most successful but she is indeed living up to her name because her pictures so far have been very posh; even the Armani underwear ad. I expect man more publications to use this stunning woman in their work.
