The One to Remember...

Please allow me to introduce you to Jasmin better known to the world as Vintage Vandalizm because of the blog site that she runs. Last night during the B.E.S.T event at Pop Burger this lovely lady caught my eye from the second she sat at the bar right up until she prepared to exit. I had no idea who she was or what she did but her aura was so powerful that I felt it from across the crowded room and I just had to meet her.
Upon meeting her I learned about her blog but I took the pictures of her because I found her to be the stand out piece on the rack so to speak. Every women came dressed how I expected them to dress with the exception of a few but Ms. Vandalizm was just in a class of her own with her style; I was blown away.
When I actually got a chance to read her blog I was overwhelmed by the fact that my suspicions were right, she isn't just a beauty with outstanding style she has a valid opinion on real topics. I am especially a fan of her break down of the things that she would like to change. I would love to actually sit down in a better setting and trade thoughts with V.V. sometime in the near future but for now enjoy the pictures of the best dressed woman of the night.

These Five Guys

Five Guys
Burgers and Fries

People flock to the SoHo/ NoHo area of lower Manhattan for many different reasons. No matter what your reason is one thing is for sure, you are going to work up an appetite. So where do you turn to refuel in a situation where your running on empty and you still have some more hours in the area? One good choice would be the famed Hamburger Shop; Five Guys.
What you are viewing is Great $cott preparing to enjoy a Five Guys double cheese burger and a AMC movie large cup full of seasoned french fries. That's right this isn't a McDonalds large, these five guys (no pun intended) really give you the true definition of large fries.
The food is Great according to $cott and the prices are acceptable so with a deal like this how can you say no?

Pandora's Box: The Handkerchief

Today I want to pry the lid of Pandora's box open just to discuss the wonders of a forgotten art; the accessory. In these times people are more focussed on the main articles of clothing, paying little or no attention to the smaller pieces that bring the whole look together. I'm going to discuss one accessory in particular today: the handkerchief.
The handkerchief is an article of clothing that has been around for some years but has evolved over time to adjust to the changes in society. A handkerchief is a thin sheet of fabric hemmed into a square. The material can range from cotton to silk and anywhere in between. Originally cotton handkerchief's were dominant because the original use was to wipe sweat from the face or to blow/ wipe the snot from one's nose. The cotton material proved to be resilient and absorbent. These cotton handkerchiefs were usually kept in the back pocket of the pants/ denim.
However over the years the purpose of the handkerchief shifted from that of use to that decoration or distinction. It began to pop up in the pockets of blazers and around necks as opposed to just being kept in the back pocket of pants. Also the material changed from predominantly cotton to more extravagant materials such as silk and silk blends. The better the material the higher the price of the handkerchief therefor they have become distinctions of wealthy people. Funny how a hemmed square cloth can go from a snot rag to a mark of distinction and style.
When worn in the pocket of a blazer it is referred to as a pocket scarf or a pocket square; not hard to see why. When worn correctly the pocket scarf can really bring a suit together and set the wearer apart from his pairs. There are many different ways you can wear a pocket scarf in a blazer. The most common way is to fold the scarf into a smaller square and just have an inch of the scarf protrude fitting the width of the actual pocket. However for someone with a more outspoken style you might care to try what I do. Grab the pocket scarf with no regard for form and stuff it in the pocket, then adjust until you are satisfied; works every time.
When work around the neck the pocket scarf can either be a great aide to your outfit (as seen above) or it can be a great distraction. Therefor you have to know what you are doing because the around the neck scarf is risky business. My best advice on that is to try different knots and see which one works best for you, keep adjusting until you feel comfortable with the look. Also consider your entire outfit and how the scarf changes the look. If after all of that you still feel comfortable then you should wear it.

Behind The Scenes: Fragile

Chrisette Michele feat Wale
Fragile

Yesterday $cott and I ventured uptown to the set of Chrisette Michele's new song Fragile featuring Wale. The BBC Diamonds & Dollars bag that you see above is packed with clothes and accessories for Wale pulled from Bathing Ape and BBC/ Ice Cream by Great $cott. The sunny weather and positive energy followed us from SoHo all the way to 135th street to the set of the shoot. About 5 minutes after we arrived the rain started which forced us to retreat to the inside of a beauty salon.
In between shots Wale was responding to emails, getting some much needed relaxation and taking all bets in NBA 2K9. Apparently the DC artist loves the game just as much as I do and is confident in his skills. So for all of you hardcore 2K9ers out there know that Wale is the man to beat.
In between rounding up clothes and pulling out fresh pieces $cott had his own emails to attend to. One thing that few people know about $cott is that he is addicted to his blackberry, the one you see in his hand happens to be his fourth. So no matter how busy he is, he will always find a way to get back on his blackberry.
Rarely do you find a woman as talented as she is beautiful but in the case of Chrisette Michele that majority rule does not apply. Not only is the woman stunning but her voice is incredible. As you can see the combination was enough to captivate me.
