Ever Wondered How Rocawear Started?

You'd be surprised... or would you?

Versace Says No Sale

"Our regular client was not queuing on January 3-4 in Milan or Rome but was on the slopes in St Moritz or on a boat in the Caribbean," he said. "We want to offer a real luxury and not to open our doors to the consumption of young girls who can put the designer handbag of their dreams on their arm with less than 300 Euros. We are not interested in that.Giancarlo Di Risio Versace CEO

Kanye West Covers Vibe

Here we see Kanye West on the cover of Vibe, slightly more descent than the cover of the Fader (Pete I'm not trying to make you the butt of my jokes) but yet and still they fall short of the key element to will this magazine off of the racks and into peoples hands. Honestly it is a very nice cover but in these times very nice covers don't sell (ask Mens Vogue). So you as an editor and chief have to ask yourself what can I do to stay afloat in these unstable times (besides employ SoHo B)? The answer is quite simple people like to see pictures of Kanye West not because they want to look at his face but because they like to see his outfits. Now either you really liked this shot for the cover (which is your opinion and you are entitled to it) or you just didn't want to promote the Pastelle jacket and Dior denims that he was sporting (don't worry about how I know). Either way this cover is cool but I doubt it's cool enough to sell. Then again it's Kanye West on the cover, people are going to purchase it just because he is who he is and they want to read what he has to say. Maybe that was your plan all along.

L&F Overdrive

I've decided to take my keen interest in NBA basketball to another level and I've began to do post on the NBA on L&F Personal so if your into the NBA and want to catch up on what's going on around the league or you just want to share your thoughts on what's going on around the league tune in HERE.
New seasoning, same great taste... L&F

He Wears Your Shirt: Award Tour

So the story is that you pay Jason to wear a shirt from your clothing line for 24 hours. Look man it's amazing advertising, you can't beat that. Aside from that, the live stream is ridiculously funny so if you have a couple minutes to spare then that is what you need to be viewing because it is none stop comedy.
Check it out:

Raf Simons & Fred Perry Collaboration

A match made in Heaven.

Swagger So Trilly

Am I dreaming or is this really a collaboration between Swagger and Trilly and Truly in the form of two stadium jackets? Words cannot express how incredible this jacket is, if you see anyone walking around with this jacket on compliment him. Incase you weren't paying attention in that Complex magazine interview Lupe Fiasco has three different clothing lines that he designs for two of which are Swagger and Trilly and Truly with the third being Fall of Rome. None of these clothing lines are being distributed in the states as of yet though. He is very fascinated with the Japanese culture right now so that is where the clothes are being sold. However word on the street is that Fall of Rome is going to be coming to the states really soon. I appreciate the fact that he isn't putting the clothes on his name and trying to force feed it to me.

New Dior ads

What your looking at is classic Dior under the direction of Kris Van Assche. The canvas feel of the advertisement, the looks of the models and the silhouettes of the cuts in the garments all come together to perfectly spell out DIOR HOMME.
You be the judge.

Clot M-65

Clot releases a very nice version of the original M-65 military jacket, a concept that lines such as Marc Jacobs and Billionaire Boys Club had their way with three seasons ago. I like the thought process on these jackets but is it a case of too little too late, maybe but the truth lies in the consumer. Whether this jacket picks up and flies off of the racks or not will be the deciding factor. In my opinion aside from the inappropriate time that these jackets were released these are some excellent jackets with some very important attention to detail.

Madonna for Louis Vuitton

Here we see Madonna, a woman well past her peak (or so they say) still looking exceptionally well in the newest installment of her ads for Louis Vuitton. Everything that I have read about these ads so far are saying that they are too raunchy and that she has gone too far with these looks, especially the one below with her legs spread. In my honest opinion I don't think that Madonna has gone too far, she has a limited time left that she can still do spreads like this and still look this good. She is a 50 year old mother of 3 and anyone that feels like she shouldn't be doing these kinds of shots is just jealous because they know within themselves that when they get her age they won't look half as good (minus the photo editing).

LV SoHo Make Over

Louis Vuitton has officially gone Stephen Sprouse nuts. First the bag collection which featured the signature Sprouse graffiti, then recently a skate deck was released that showcased the Sprouse graffiti and now the SoHo location is being completely overhauled with the, yes that's right, you guessed it Stephen Sprouse signature graffiti. I'm a huge fan of the classic Louis Vuitton monogram and brown color scheme of the store but I think this temporary make over will be a refreshing look for the store and these recent collaboration may generate more business for the company.

Happy New Year: Usher Style

I thought that I was killing it on New Years night at my intimate get together with the panther pink Marc Jacobs shirt with a splash of purple label but Usher totally smashed me. Seen above looking rather well put together in a Dsquared blazer for his New Years party in Vegas.

Chanel Iman For Harper's Bazaar

The first shot is everything that you could, should and would possibly ask for. What other model you know serves it up this well on a consistent and frequent basis (besides the obvious answer)? The shot is simply amazing, she nailed every aspect of it with an electric nail gun. From the pose and posture to the look and feel of the shot everything is on point, she completely sold this look. The look below is a remarkable use of her lengthy figure, the placement of her arms and the use of her long and slender legs is nothing short of art. The stand out feature about this look is the actual look, well her facial expression to be exact is what brings it all together. This young lady was born to do this, the looks and the poses that she gives us look as though they come easy to her. When it is time for the new queen to be crowned I have no doubt as to whom will be deemed royalty of the runway.
Spot on

Naomi Covers Numero (late)

I am fully aware of the fact that I am extremely late with this post but it would be disrespectful for me not to post this. Naomi Campbell is legendary and no matter what that is one thing that no amount of negative press can take away from her. When you've been doing it for as long as she has and you still look that good then maybe you can speak up when Ms. Campbell is the topic. I would like to utilize this opportunity to say that full lips will always be in and long live the queen.
Good day.

Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Trainers

Remember when you were a kid and you first started drawing, you wanted to draw everywhere and on everything, apparently some people never let go of that feeling. The new trainers to be released by Marc Jacobs for this S/S 09 season feature some very interesting artwork. This is definitely unique and different, even though Mr. Jacobs is using a familiar design as far as the actual physical make up of the trainer. This is just another example of why we all love Marc Jacobs, he always leaves us wondering; what's next?

MacBook Wheel

I honestly don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand it's innovative thinking but how effective would it be? You have to scroll to type, for all of that it could have just been touch screen, now that would have made sense. I can't see myself scrolling to type up a report so who would be the target market? I seriously doubt the release much less the existence of this macbook wheel.

Kanye West: Forced Interview

If you ever thought that you were being stalked, forget about it. This is the essence of stalking, watch and learn.

Band of Outsiders: S/S 09

I have already posted the Band of Outsiders S/S 09 collection but this is something that I do not recall seeing the first time around; Charles Hamilton.

Christina Milian - Us Against the World Video Shoot

As far as the outfits in this video shoot go, so far so good. Plus the song has meaning so keep your eyes and ears tuned in for the release of this video because it's going to be good.

New Music: Theophilus London

New feel good music from none other than Theophilus London. This young man had a gift bestowed upon him and it is the ability to speak to souls. His music doesn't resinate with everyone because it isn't meant to, it's meant to touch certain people and for those people it touches them deep. It's a life changing experience to bare witness to a live performance from an artist like this.

Happy New Year

One thing I want you all to remember is that the leaves always wait until fall to let go of the trees...CLICK HERE

Gisele Bundchen & Kate Moss For Versace

Kate Moss looks stunning in these shots for Versace but honestly when doesn't she look stunning. Kate Moss is legendary for having such that look that can neither be replaced or duplicated. The last shot is amazing. I believe that Gisele looks good as well but next to Kate she gets over shadowed. I commend her for doing this shoot but honestly why wouldn't she do it? It's Versace, which is a big deal in itself, then if that wasn't enough your sharing space with Kate Moss, huge promotion and third if nothing else after this you are going to be compared to Kate Moss. When people think about Kate Moss they are going to think about Gisele Bundchen as well thanks to this ad campaign with Versace. So this was a big deal anyway you look at it.

Lanvin S/S 09 Footwear Collection

Lanvin has just released looks from the Spring Summer 2009 footwear collection. I'm a huge fan of the grey pair shown above, it's in keeping with the classic design but at the same time the different use of material and the subtle use of the (usually excessive) pattern leather gives the trainer a whole new feel. What once was a loud trainer is now a whisper in a room full of elephants. However the best part about it is that they have managed to lower the volume without reducing the quality of the product, which is remarkable. The same thing goes for the all black pair although I'm not really a fan of how those came out, personally I would have added a slight under tone of a yellow, orange, lime green or even grey in there with the black. I really like the way that the boat shoes came out, there is a smooth transition throughout the shoe from top to bottom; simply beautiful.
