Style Stepout of Pranna
Last Thursday night, Pranna was definitely the place to be. Style Stepout hosted an event in collaboration with 8 degrees and the luxury spot. The event was a showcase for artist and designers that you should pay attention to in 2009. The original line up included a company that L&F readers are already familiar with; Good Wood. However due to some miscommunication the Wood didn't actually make it to the event but I did meet a good designer by the name of Monica Favela George, she started her own collection of Italian made women's heels. GiGi Favela is the name of the brand which was named after her inspiration and love of her life; her daughter. As a general rule in New York where ever there is a designer and complimentary drinks there are bound to be interesting people so follow the link for the rest of the pictures from the event.

Scott for the Long Run
Longchamp is a company originally founded by Jean Cassegrain. The company started out making leather coverings for smokers pipes out of the Loire valley countryside. In more recent times the company is more prominently known for their Le Pliage line which includes bag designs similar to the ones displayed above. The simple clean bag design is one of the most recognizable bags that you will ever come across in the market.
Designer Jeremy Scott has partnered with Longchamp to lend his creative abilities to their line. What you see above are the offspring of that beautiful union, a collection of children that any parent can be proud of. I am a fan of the bags in this collection, I consider this a refreshing addition to a classic label; very nice indeed.

The New Balenciaga Trainer
You may or may not remember but three weeks ago Balenciaga released this trainer in all black, this week they revisited this design in an all white pattern. I like this trainer because it is not like anything else on the market right now and it isn't trying to be like any of it's competition; it has an identity all it's own. The rubber bottom makes it quite unique, you do not usually see this kind of finish on high end designer trainers, this rubber sole is generally used by designers that cater to athlete's nevertheless I am intrigued to see how the consumer responds to this one. This re-release in a different color shows that they are sticking by the design, how will it fare in the market? Only time will tell.

Come Homme with Dior
You are viewing the newest installment in the Dior Homme SS 09 collection. The colors are very patriotic and the design is classic Dior, the fact that the base color is white and it's border is blue suede limits it's play time. I wouldn't advise you to wear them in the rain but if the weather is fair then you should try to incorporate these trainers into your outfit.

If We Ever Met I'd...
Ashley Olsen looks so stunning in these shots for VMan magazine; she is almost completely unrecognizable. I had to study the photographs to really tell it was her. In the elevator shots it's a bit easier to make her out but in the bulk of the shots she takes on a totally different personality. She exudes confidence and sensuality but yet still offers us a sense of innocence in the picture above, a combination that has been mastered by the world renown super model, Chanel Iman. These shots could be the beginning of a new chapter in Ashley's life or we all could be reading too much into this and it was just intended to be a one time thing. Whatever the case may be, one thing is for sure, these shots have registered as warning shots in everyones mind.

Dear Summer,
If you are looking to make a splash this coming summer but you are tired of the looks that are already in your closet, I don't think you should do something as extreme as throw everything away and start fresh. I would suggest you go through your entire collection and pick out timeless pieces that you absolutely cannot live without and put the questionable pieces to the side. Then slowly rework those questionable pieces back in. If you can't see how an article of clothing will benefit you then lose it, don't feel forced to wear something just because you purchased it; everything has an expiration date.
When looking to the summer there should always be a theme in your closet, otherwise your looks will be random and scattered. There is usually one good item that you purchase that you like so much you want to work everything that you already own around it just so you can wear it more often. Getting dressed should be fun, if you ever go to your closet and feel sad or discontent then there is definitely something wrong. In most cases it is just that you are tired of looking at the same clothes. That feeling transpires onto you when you wear the clothes and it shows. I suggest you add a little spice to your closet, try something that you have never done before, while your at it try a new hair style and some new shoes as well.

The Talented 10(yr old)
Alex Midler is the name and he is only ten years old. Amazingly at ten years of age he skates better than most 20 year olds. There is no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to go pro, if he keeps it up at this rate he can go pro in two to three years but the real question is will that be what he wants when he gets there. He might just stay a really good street skater. He already has sponsorships such as: Etnies, Volcom, and Almost behind him, the only thing left to ask is: do you see what they see?

Bape Goldmine 09
If you aren't a Bape head then you are looking at these like didn't they do this already? Technically you would be correct but the design was different there for making it a totally different trainer. The silver and gold colorway was previously released for the Bapesta 88 design and is now being released on the classic Bapesta design.
I'm a fan. Check with your local Bathing Ape store for official release dates or estimations of the release date as websites have been known to be unreliable sources.

Today is Everyday
Pocket It
A pocket scarf is a nice way to spice up any outfit. There are many different ways that you can wear a pocket scarf depending on the length of the scarf. The most common way is to simply place it in the breast pocket of a blazer or vest (if applicable) with only an inch of the scarf being revealed. However as you become more comfortable with wearing scarves you can reveal more and more of the scarf.
Another option for wearing the pocket scarf is tied around the neck, but this only works if the scarf is long enough and if it looks natural. The style is a very French inspired style and it is meant to be tied loose as if you just threw it around your neck and tied it so it wouldn't move, but not so loose that it will move. When done correct it can be a very effective addition to an outfit.
The material of the pocket scarf is also something to be considered because silk scarves are more likely to slip and move, to start out I'd advise you use a cotton scarf. It will give you the stability and consistency that you will need to really get your feet wet.

Stylish in Williamsburg
While in Williamsburg this weekend I came across this beautiful young lady with so much style and I just had to share her with you. I saw her and immediately fell in love with everything that she had to offer, from the scarf to the bag she was on point and she completely comfortable; simple sign that this is her style.

Dr. Simons Sandals
Raf Simons x Dr. Martens Summer 09 |
2008 was undoubtedly a good year for Dr. Martens, the boots were a hit last winter especially amongst women with the release of the hot pink color. This summer Dr. Martens has teamed up with Raf Simons to provide something brand new for their consumers; sandals. This design is Simon's style so it should be well received by his current fan base. The design stuck with the original form of a Dr. Marten boot but will those consumers be willing to go toes out this summer? One good outcome that most likely shall occur is they are going to reach a new market together that they were unable to reach independently. I already have my assumptions on how this product is going to do in the market but the consumers have the final word so for now all we can do is speculate; time will tell the rest.
