This morning John Varvatos threw a brunch at the SoHo location for a select few. If you had to make a list of people that you would like to have brunch with I doubt that John would be on the majority of list but that is what makes him so cool. His demeanor is so relaxed and humble that if you didn't know who he is and what he does, you wouldn't be able to tell. We had an interesting conversation about his rise on the radar and how his image shifted from "that guy that designed for converse" to John Varvatos GQ Magazine rated designer of the year, recipient of the Perry Ellis award for menswear, recipient of the designer of the year award from the CFDA and despite all of the awards and recognition he is still very down to earth.
Looking around the store I've seen so many scarves that I knew there had to be some importance to it, so I inquired about the scarf and what role it plays in his life. He simply wrote it off as a personal style note. Saying: "I like to dress up in a tie when I need to but for leisure I would much rather wear a scarf." Sensing that he leans more towards comfort in his choice of leisure attire I inquired if it transcends into the collection when he is designing. He assured me that there is a sense of comfort in his clothing. Wear a suit if you have to but once you wear a John Varvatos suit you'll start wearing them because you want to.
To see the rest of the pictures from Brunch:
Conceptually this is the best article of clothing that I have seen for the year. This is more art than fashion, the idea had to be a dream. The design is a super V neck, masked with a merino wool hood. I'm really inspired by out of the norm pieces and this is definitely a stand out piece.
Think outside of your own neckline.

Are you kidding me? Is there any better way to say luxury than a snakeskin covered ice bucket?
You would be the coolest person in the block association when you pull out this snakeskin shaker. I know so many bartenders that just got their license that would love to have this in their house, although I'd just have it for decor.
My personal favorite is the snakeskin wine cooler, this is seriously the end all be all of wine coolers. If you invite a young lady over and you put the wine in this wine cooler...
This look is provocative but it isn't so much so that it is offensive. It is nowhere near summer time yet but women are bearing more of their bodies already. By the time summer gets here they will be walking around in nothing more than a long tee and unmentionable's. I can't say that I am opposed to it but everything should be done with class and tact. So here is a tactful way to show some skin without being considered a prude.
Lately when I walk I haven't been noticing people. That isn't to say that they aren't there but it feels like I'm so zoned out that I'm on the street by myself, when people talk to me I usually snap out of it. What a pleasant surprise it was yesterday when this young lady stopped me to talk a bit, she was talking to me and it took me a while to acknowledge what she was saying because my brain kept telling me: "she is dressed well, take her picture."
Sometimes in life you can't see the whole picture, some of you take that for what it is and think that's it. It really is supposed to be an incentive for you to try harder to see the big picture, so the thought for the day is when life shows you have half of a picture, smile and fill in the blanks.

That's right homie we major!
If you didn't know that was a line from a Kanye West song off of what in my opinion was the best album that he ever made Late Registration. When I first heard that Mr. London was going to be involved in this show, I felt good because I know the struggle. I listen to the music because it is quality music and I enjoy listening to it but I support the man because I know the struggle, I remember, you remember, they remember, I was there, you were there, they were there. We all witnessed first hand the beautiful struggle and we all feel connected to Theo in some way shape or form so it feels good and is in a way inspiring when you see him accomplishing such feats. To those that didn't believe, here is the physical evidence that you needed. Earlier in the week I made a comment on Facebook in response to one of his accomplishments and I think it may have been misunderstood. I said: "What is next?" and I said it in a motivational sense. That is to say, you have accomplished this and we are proud of you but don't stop there; keep going.

This is the best concept that I have seen so far that any magazine has drawn up for Mr. West. The old complex spread from last summer used to be the best but this one takes the cake.
Why do you think there’s such a fixation on your sexuality?
I really think it’s because society tries to dictate the way a guy is supposed to dress and the way a guy is supposed to act, and I refuse to conform. A lot of these dudes would never be accused of being gay just because they all look exactly alike. If people could just realize the amount of mundaneness and followers that lack creativity… I think people’s mentality is like, Only gay people are that creative. And it’s true there are a lot of gay people who are incredible creative minds, but there are straight people who are incredible creative minds—and there’s gay people who can’t dress or create at all, too. Closed-minded gay people probably say they dress “straight.”
Why so blue? You have the whole world ahead of you.
Life is what you make it, it is mostly mental.
Make today your day and so shall everyday be your day.
Stay true to who you are and not who they want you to be.
Don't do what is politically correct, do what makes you happy.
When you meet someone for the first time you are meeting their façade.
When you have have sex with someone for the first time you are meeting them.
You two had been staring each other down all night. You finally get her home and as soon as the door closes, it starts.
You make your way to the bedroom, leaving a trail of cotton blends, spandex and denim. At this point accessories are flying every which way...
but don't you dare take those off.
The shoes is entitled Barney's Trash and is priced at $995. For those of you that don't know this is not how you get consumers to purchase your product. The most important thing is that you have to make them believe that they need it so they will want it, calling it "Barney's Trash" isn't going to motivate people to buy it. Maybe in a surplus but in the current state of affairs...
Richie looks incredible on the cover. The stylist took huge risk with these looks but for the most part it paid off. Most people that are talking are saying that it is borrowing from Lady GaGa's style (you be the judge) but at the end of the day if that is all that they can say then job well done.
It does speak in volumes when your fans say something like that on your behalf.
I think these trainers are really cool, with this being the newest installment from BBC/ Ice Cream I will say that I like the direction that they are heading in. The design is that of a canvas trainer but the color scheme stays true to the brand and brings the whole concept together.
