Ben Affleck on Esquire

This is a really cool cover because it's like he was just being himself. It's like the photographer said: Give me something and this is what they got, luckily this works out in everyones favor. The magazine got a good cover shot and Mr. Affleck didn't have to compromise his comfort zone. Aside from the cover the magazine itself has some really good content this month so you might want to check that out.

Dyson, Breitbart Debate on Bill Maher

This was a very good discussion that captivated me from the minute I pressed play. I think this is an argument that will go on for years to come without either side giving in. Andrew Breitbart couldn't even admit that he had knowledge of coded language. I view that as an insult to not only Dyson's intelligence but mine as a viewer as well. Viewing this kind of debate takes me back to when I wished to be on the board of the city council, maybe a mayor or borough president in my latter days.

Life in a Snap

I've been so busy lately that I haven't really had a chance to appreciate the work of my peers and I think it has negatively affected my week. From time to time I will check up on other bloggers that I am familiar with because I like to know that everyone is working as hard as I am and sometimes it is inspiring to me to see what other bloggers are doing. I ran into two unique individuals this summer by the name of The Agytators: CoCo Black and Melly Shabazz. When I first saw them I didn't know who they were but with a little research and a couple more run ins we've gotten well acquainted with each other. I check on them as often as my free time will allow because I like their drive. My resent check in on them has revealed some very stunning shots.
When people ask me if I am a photographer I simply reply: "It is not my place to deem myself as such, I just take pictures." When I take pictures like this maybe I'll reconsider calling myself a photographer.

Let's hope that CoCo invests in an Apple computer so that they can continue their online journey.

Rock Smith Spring 09 Collection

I like the direct that this clothing line is going in. They infuse classic street wear style with originality and a bit of their own style to make a batch of clothing that will reach the youth of this new generation. The tee shirt design above is very fresh, I think the usage of such prominent colors was a very good idea. The engine number nine tee shirt is a street wear rendition to the Chanel perfume mixed with a quote from an old school hip hop song. The look with the Warbucks shorts is my personal favorite because they included a tie and dressed the look up a bit, showing that this is street wear but you are not limited or confined in anyway. All around this collection gets a thumbs up and the L&F seal of approval.

Thanks Jenn.

Can You Move to This?

Can you walk to the beat? Well I mean you could walk to the beat but who needs to walk to anyone else's beat when you design like this? You are viewing John Galliano Fall 09 Collection as was seen in Paris. This is the most standoffish collection that I have seen this season. I say that because it simply stands out from the line, not that other collections don't but this one does so much so that it is right in my face I can smell the scents of the material and make up mixture. No one is doing anything like this right now, other designers may have similar elements but the way that everything is put together is incredible. Not to mention this is still only READY TO WEAR!

I told you since NY Fashion Week that we were on the dawn of a new age and now we get more supporting details. We are entering a time when designers will put more effort into the RTW pieces that they design, end result: more elaborate pieces that you can just walk into a shop and purchase off of a rack.
I am a big fan of the theme as well. This is inspired by a time in history where everyone dressed better. Men wore three pieces to brunch and women wore big decedent gowns. There was a distinct separation between the classes and mixing was unheard of. A shoemaker could never eat with a lord but when you design your gowns this well I'm sure that Galliano would have had no trouble holding council with anyone.
Ladies are you getting more bang for your buck?
HELL YEA!

Gourmet Soufflé

I am a huge fan of the new Gourmet trainers. I ran into them in SoHo in Union and I've been thinking about them ever since.
Union
172 Spring St.
New York NY
The sleek and modern design of this new trainer is very appealing. Upon first sight you may think that it's just a zip up front but hidden perfectly under the zipper is a set of laces and even a tongue so you have the option to wear the trainers with the zipper up or down.
Pick your poison.

What's Love Got to Do With It?

Band of Outsiders x Sperry Topsider Boat Shoes
It seems like BOA was born to design boat shoes because every pair that they put their special touch on is incredible. Sometimes it is something as simple as the red stripe around the rubber sole of the shoe that makes it that much better and just when the whole world thought that there was nothing else left to do to the classic boat shoe; the deconstruct it. I am a huge fan of their work and I expect nothing but the best in the years to come.

Mini Trench Anyone?

Look at what your about to purchase for 20% off; a mini trench and a mini skirt. Well the skirt is just the icing on the cake, the trench coat is the whole damn cake. It's small, playful and very feminine. The design is very appealing, including the unique sleeves and the gold buttons are an excellent addition.

Kanye West on American Idol

New York Magazine's Fashion Blog couldn't understand why Kanye decided to do the American Idol performance rather than attend Louis Vuitton's Paris show. Makes perfect sense to me, for one he got paid to do the performance on Idol. Another really big reason is that it's a small victory, not that he want's anyone's approval but if you've ever watched Idol you know that the judges make a living telling people that they aren't good enough. Now Kanye is more like the Wedding Singer than a real R&B artist but yet he's performing on the big stage on Idol. It's just another conversation piece for him.

Chanel F/W 09 Collection

I am a fan of the craftsmanship of Karl Lagerfeld for all the right reasons. I believe that he is a well respected and much appreciated designer but there are people that just like Chanel and KL himself because they are following the hype. When you get something just because of the hype behind it I think you lose a bit of appreciation for it. To look at a legendary line like Chanel and only see something that your friend has and you want too is distasteful. When you see a woman in the street with a Chanel bag know that she is carrying her belongings in a piece of heritage. This new collection from Lagerfeld for Chanel is not to be ignored, overlooked or taken lightly. In this particular collection I like the direction that Karl has taken us. It's always good to see when a designer can take a fashion house with it's roots planted deep (meaning it's old), modernize it and tweak it without sacrificing the image of the house.

This unique spandex piece was a chance that paid off in my personal opinion.

I'll Never Make the News Again...

Diggy will shoot ya!

His blog is a must read. I heard about it a while back, may have checked it twice before today. I just happened to be watching a video with Alex, $cott and myself and $cott mentioned him so I decided to check his blog again and I must say it is definitely something that you should keep in your internet rolodex as far as sites that you visit regularly.

The New iPod Shuffle

Holds 1000 songs, it's even smaller than it's predecessor and it talks to you, telling you what song you are currently listening to upon your request. Those features are cool but they are just the beginning because it does a whole lot more.

New From de Garçons:

I think it goes without saying that I'm a huge fan of this collection. It plays with a lot of different concepts with special attention to the detail in the pattern of the fabric. Comme is usually on the deconstructive side more than any other clothing line but this is one of the most put together collections that I have seen from Kawakubo (designer).
My personal favorite is the vest follow very closely by the picnic table pattern blazer; very nice.
Dare to be different today.

I Don't Mean to Brag

I don't like to brag because it is unbecoming for a gentleman to brag but it has been decided that this is the best jean jacket in the world. Word on the SoHo Blocks is that people are searching long and wide for a really cool jean jacket, I think the search was initiated by Kanye West when he wore the jean jacket last year with the Michael Jackson pin and Dee & Ricky's heart pendant.
Tell 'Ye that I have some pins of my own.
Whoever wants to put their jacket up against mine is welcome to try.

I.E. x KISH MY A$H

You are looking at one half of the blogger team behind my newest indulgence; KISH MY A$H. Wearing one of the newest releases from the street wear brand: Ironic Extinction. Which is a brand that I am very fond of. I respect the grind that they have been on and how hard they work to produce these pieces. It's a whole journey as is every clothing line so when you purchase a sweater it's so much more, it's like your buying into their dream; you own a steak in their success.
Cool Huh?

The KMA site that is hyperlinked above is the newest blogspot on the scene and is pretty cool. I appreciate the different perspective on fashion and lifestyle. The artwork is modern and hip and the people behind the site are very involved in the social scene so they really know what is going on. I think at this point it's safe to say that they are okay in my book.

See how I got two topics off in one post?

The first African American Heavyweight Champion of the World (1908-1915)
Jack Johnson, defeated Canadian Tommy Burns on December 26, 1908,

This initiated the quest to find a "Great White Hope" to defeat Johnson.
James Jeffries, a leading white fighter, came out of retirement to answer the challenge.
Jack Johnson won their fight on July 4, 1910.
For more than thirteen years, Jack Johnson was the most famous, and the most notorious

Kim's Cha Cha Cha

I'm not a fan of the fact that they are using her incarceration as a marketing tool. Every time she speaks about the show in general must she mention that she fell in love with it in prison? Is that the only way that they can show that they have mass appeal?

Michelle Obama Covers O Magazine

"I know that all I can do is be the best me that I can. And live life with some gusto. Giving back is a big part of that. How am I going to share this experience with the American people? I’m always thinking about that." Michelle Obama

Now here is a really good question: Who has more influence, Michelle or Oprah? In my personal opinion I still think it is Oprah but only because she has been Oprah for years, women are still warming up to Michelle. I think they like her and they are willing to take tips from her (yellow J. Crew dress sold out the day after she wore it and the site say a 66% increase) but they aren't ready to replace Oprah.

Rain Dance For Me

Can you call it hippie? Not exactly but it is debatable. It is listed on the Intermix site as "Tribal" and in my honest opinion that is the most fitting description of this collection of articles of clothing by numerous designers. Each piece has it's own personality and energy that it can bring to an outfit, I think it can be fun for you to try and experiment with a bit. Maybe work the shoes into an outfit that you already like to wear. However what I do not advise you to do is wear everything at the same time, not a desirable look for a woman.
